Fuel Sim Resets Mysteriously on Own

The last two rides, I have manually reset the fuel sim while recording a route, then somehow along the way it just starts flashing that I'm out of fuel but have only traveled 40 miles (a 120 mile range). No idea whats going on with that.

Title was incorrect, it mysteriously drops to 0 miles/empty on its own.
