GPX Manager & Sharing

Opening the GPX Manager

The GPX Manager is your library — every GPX file you keep, whether it is on the map right now or not. Open it from:

• HUB → GPX Files — the tile shows how many files you have.
• The HUB button (a folder with a cloud) at the bottom of Loaded GPX Files, or ADD GPX → HUB GPX Manager. It opens beside the map, and its Back returns you to Loaded GPX Files.
• My Recordings in the GPX Recorder — straight into that folder.
• The HUB GPX Manager Button on the map, if you switch it on (Map Overlays), or a Shortcut Button set to GPX File Manager.
• A loaded file's DETAILS button skips the list and opens that file's page — see File Detail. It is only there for files that are in your HUB library.

Across the top: Back and the GPX Manager title, round buttons for Filter & Sort, Search and New Folder, and the blue IMPORT button, which brings a GPX in from the device's storage and draws it on the map straight away (on a narrow screen it shrinks to its icon). Signed in with a license, DMD² then asks whether to sync it; Sync files it in your Imported folder on the HUB. Under the title bar is the path you are in — Root › folder › … — and a tap on any earlier step jumps back up to it.

Folders

At the top level the special folders come first, then your own folders from A to Z, then the files.

Files in the List

Each file row shows its colour (or its first photo), its name, its length and how many tracks it holds. A bar with a percentage appears once you have ridden part of it, and Signature Tracks carry a SIGNATURE tag.

Filter, Sort & Search

Filter & Sort (the funnel) opens a panel of six tiles:

Clear resets the filters and the sort, and the funnel lights up while anything is set. Your choice holds in every folder and is remembered. The filters are worked out by the HUB, so they need a connection and act on your own files; the sort works offline too, and folders always stay in A–Z order. When nothing matches, the folder says No content for the filter selection, with a Reset Filters button.

Search opens a box (Search files…) that finds files and folders by name anywhere in your library. While you search, the special folders and the files kept on this device only are left out.

A File's Details

Tap a file to open its page. The header gives its name and where it is (the country and continent, or the state and country in the United States); a file that is not yours carries a Community or Shared With Me badge. Tags under the picture show its difficulty, how much of it is off-road and — on your own files — whether it is Private, Pending Review or Public.

One of your own files — it is loaded, so the top button reads UNLOAD FROM MAP. The sharing buttons sit right under it.

A file that is not yours — from the Community Collection or Shared With Me — is read-only: you can load it, ride it and follow your progress on it, but not edit it, recolour it or make a share link for it.

Progress. The strip under the buttons shows how much of the file you have ridden (Not ridden yet until you start). Tap it for Distance covered, Time invested, First ridden and Personal best; View on map shows the stretches you have ridden, and Reset starts again after asking — on every device. On a Signature Track the strip counts towards its completion badge.

Folded sections open in place: About (the description, warnings and a YouTube link), Vehicles & season and Tags & photos.

Banners. A file that is not on the HUB says why at the top: Not synced to the HUB when you chose to keep it on this device — TURN ON SYNC sends it to your Imported folder, or a recording to My Recordings — or Waiting to upload, when it goes up by itself the next time the HUB can be reached. A file that is also a trip journal says This is one of your trips, with a MY TRIPS button.

Editing a File

EDIT opens Edit Details — everything the HUB, the filters and other riders know about the file:

• Title, Public Description (with bold, italic and underline), Warnings and Tags.
• Continent and Country — and State in the United States.
• Best Time to Ride: Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter.
• What did you ride it with (or plan it for)? and Largest vehicle it suits, with a table of what the HUB and the planner work out from them; then Difficulty with that vehicle and the Off-road percentage.
• Photo 1 and Photo 2 (take a photo or choose one from the gallery), and a YouTube Video URL.
• GPX file, on files on the HUB: Replace GPX file swaps the track itself for a new .gpx and keeps the title, photos and details — on the HUB and on every device it syncs to, after asking. Below it are the file's own description, author, link and creation time.
• Visibility: Make Public, Allow Download and Allow HUB Indexing — see Publishing to the Community and Help the Planner Learn.

SAVE CHANGES saves them to the HUB. For a file kept on this device only, the changes are saved on the device and go up with the file.

Sharing a GPX File

Every way to share a file starts from its details. Pick by who should get it, and whether it should stay yours:

Sending the File

SHARE FILE hands the .gpx to Android's share sheet (Share GPX file with…) — email, a messaging app, Drive, Bluetooth, whatever the device offers. The file is named after its title.

• A file on your HUB goes out as the HUB holds it now — with a replaced track and your latest edits — so DMD² fetches it first (Preparing GPX to share…), which needs a connection.
• A file kept on this device only is written out from what DMD² holds, so that works offline. The same button also sits at the top of its Edit Details.

The other rider gets an ordinary GPX file: it opens in any navigation app, and in DMD² with Share or Open with — see Opening Files & Locations from Other Apps. It is a copy, so nothing you change later reaches it.

Share Links

SHARE LINK makes a web link to the file that you send by message or email. It is on your own files that are on the HUB, so you need to be signed in with a license; a file kept on this device only has to be synced first.

Share Link as it opens: the file's existing links (none yet), the Locked link switch with what it means, the optional dates and limit, and CREATE SHARE LINK.

Locked or Download

The Locked link switch picks what the other rider gets. It is on by default:

Locked, with a link expiry a week out and access until a month out — each date appears when its switch is on; tap it to change it.

Download — the note changes, Set access-until date gives way to Limit downloads per user, and a limit gets − / + buttons.

Dates & Limits

Each option is a switch: turn it on and a date (tap it to pick another) or a number appears. Leave them all off for a permanent link with no limit.

• Set available-from date — the day the file opens. Before then a Locked file waits in the rider's Shared With Me as Available on that date, and a Download page says Available soon and gives nothing.
• Set link-expiry date — the day the link's page closes (a week from today unless you pick another). Nobody new can collect or download the file after it; riders who already collected a Locked file keep it.
• Set access-until date (Locked only) — the day the file leaves the riders' apps: it is taken off their map and deleted from their device, even offline (a month from today unless you pick another). Set the link expiry on or before this day, so nobody collects a file that is already gone.
• Limit total collections — how many riders can collect it. Once it is reached, the link's page says Share link exhausted and your list says Full.
• Limit downloads per user (Download only) — how many times each person can download the file.

CREATE SHARE LINK makes the link (Generating share link…), adds it to the list at the top and opens Android's share sheet (Share GPX link) so you can send it straight away. A link looks like https://hub.dmdnavigation.com/api/share.php?t=…

Your Links

EXISTING LINKS at the top of the form lists every link made for the file: Locked or Download; its state — Active, Pending (its available-from date has not come yet), Full or Expired; how many riders collected it (3 of 10 collected when there is a limit); when it was made; the link itself; and COPY and REVOKE.

REVOKE asks first, then the link stops working for good. A Locked link takes the file back with it: the file leaves the Shared With Me folder of everyone who collected it at their next sync. Copies made from a Download link stay with the riders who made them.

Receiving a Shared File

A share link opens in the web browser — on a phone or a computer — and shows who shared the file.

In Shared With Me a Locked file rides like one of your own: its switch puts it on the map, and a tap opens its details, read-only. The owner's changes reach you by themselves, and once you have loaded it online it is there offline too. Until its available-from date the row says Available on that date; on its access-until date it goes by itself, and if the owner revokes the link it goes at your next sync.

To take a shared file out yourself, long-press it in Shared With Me and choose Remove from collection.

The page says Share link expired once the link's expiry date has passed, Share link exhausted once it has reached its limit, Download limit reached once you have used the downloads the owner allows each person, and Share link not found or File not available once the link is revoked or the file deleted.

Sharing With Your Group

Riding with a group? While you have an active group, MAKE ACTIVE GROUP GPX at the bottom of a file's details shares the file with the group and makes it the group's route in one step — it loads onto every member's map (Active GPX set). Who in a group may set its route is covered in Riding Groups.

A file kept on this device only has to be on your HUB first, so the others can get it: DMD² asks Share with your group?, and SYNC AND SHARE syncs it (into Imported) and hands it on. Offline, the change waits and goes through once you are back online.

A group also has its own Files tab, for sharing files without making them the route, and a navigation you are riding can become the group's route too — see Sharing Your Navigation With a Group.

Publishing to the Community

To share a route with every DMD rider, open EDIT and turn on Make Public under Visibility — It will be reviewed before appearing publicly. The switch works once the checklist under it is complete. To publish, this file needs:

• A description of at least 50 characters
• A continent
• A country
• At least one best time to ride
• A vehicle (ridden with, or the largest it suits)
• Photo 1

Save, and the file shows Pending Review until it is approved, then Public: it appears in Discover → GPX Files, where riders open it, load it on their map and save it to their Community Collection. The HUB also needs a track or route it can measure; if it still finds something missing, it saves your changes, keeps the file private and says what is needed (Saved as private).

Allow Download (off unless you turn it on) lets riders download your original GPX file from the HUB. Left off, they can still open and ride it in DMD² — always your current version.

Turn Make Public off again to take the file back to Private.

Help the Planner Learn

When you open the GPX Manager signed in with a license and your HUB account has not answered yet, DMD² asks Help the planner learn better routes. This is not sharing: no rider sees your files. The HUB planner learns, anonymously, which roads and tracks riders actually ride — only ways ridden by 3 or more riders count, the start and end of each ride are left out, and nothing points back to you.

Answer Yes, let the planner learn or No thanks. You can change it later in Map Settings → GPX & Navigation → GPX Files Only → HUB Sync — switching it off asks whether to leave out only the files you add from now on (New uploads only) or All my files — and for a single file with Allow HUB Indexing in its Edit Details.

Offline & Without a License

The library lives on the device, so most of it works with no signal: browse your folders, open a file's details, load the files already on the device, import, make folders (they show Pending until they reach the HUB) and move the files kept on this device only. A banner says Offline — showing saved content, or Can't reach DMD HUB — showing saved content; a folder you have never opened says Not available offline yet.

Loading a file for the first time, moving synced files and folders, deleting a folder, filtering, SHARE FILE on a file from the HUB and anything to do with share links need a connection.

Without a license — or signed out — the GPX Manager still works, fully on the device: organise, import, load and delete. What needs the license is the server side: syncing with the HUB, share links, Shared With Me and the Community Collection, and your riding group. The full split is in Free vs. Licensed.
