Riding Groups
Set up a private riding group on the HUB website, invite your friends by email or with a join link, and run it from a big screen: the group's map and track, its members and their roles, the chat, shared files and places, and the group's own calendar.
- Where
- Avatar menu or account sidebar → Riding Groups (/account/profile/groups/)
- Who sees a group
- Only its creator and its members — groups are never listed on the website
- Invite
- By email, or with a shareable join link
- Roles
- Owner, Admin, Moderator and Member
Your Riding Groups
Riding Groups — an invite waiting on top, then the groups you created and the ones you joined.
Riding groups are private: only the group's creator and its members can see them, and they appear nowhere else on the website. The page lists:
- Pending Invites — who invited you, with Accept and Refuse;
- Groups Created By You — with an Owner badge, the number of members, Group Page and Delete;
- Groups You Joined — with Group Page and Leave Group.
Deleting a group asks first (This action cannot be undone!). Only its owner can delete it.
Creating a Group
New Group opens New Riding Group:
- Group Name;
- Group Logo — pick one of the default pictures, or Upload Custom Logo (JPG or PNG, up to 5 MB, resized to 400 px);
- Description, with a formatting toolbar.
Create Group makes you its owner. Edit Group on the group page changes the same things later; only the owner and the group's admins can edit it.
Inviting Riders
On the group page, Invite Users (owner, admins and moderators) opens Invite to Group. There are two ways in:
Invite by email
Enter the rider's User Email and an optional Invite Message, then Send Invite. They get an email; someone without a DMD account can create one and then accept. The invite waits under Pending Invites until they answer, and Cancel Invite withdraws it.
Shareable join links
Generate New Link makes a link anyone can use to join, with an optional Expires on date and Maximum joins. Copy it from Join Link Ready and send it however you like. The table shows each link's joins, expiry and creation date, with Edit and Delete.
A rider who opens a join link sees the group, when the link expires and how many spots remain. With the DMD app installed it offers Open in DMD app; otherwise they continue on the web: signed out, they sign in or create an account first; signed in, Join Group (or Open Group if they are already a member).
The Group Page & Map
A group page, seen by its owner — the drawing tools sit above the map.
Group Page opens the group: its name and your role, and for the owner, admins and moderators the buttons Edit Group (owner and admins), Invite Users, Set Active GPX and Delete Active GPX.
The map shows the group's track and the pins and shapes shared with the group. Moderators and up can draw on it: Pin, Line, Area, Rect and Circle in a colour of their choice, then Finish (or Clear All). Click a drawing to see who added it and zoom to it.
Live positions
A member shows on the map with their speed while this group is their active group in the app and they share their location. The map refreshes every couple of seconds. The marker's border is green while it updates, orange after 5 minutes without an update, and red when the rider needs help. Click a rider to follow them (Following · drag the map to stop).
Set Active GPX
Sets what the group rides. Pick a file from your GPX Files or the group's Shared Files, upload a new GPX, or plan one in the Web Planner; tick Add as shortcut to Shared Files to list it there too. Once the group has a track, choose Add to the group track or Replace the whole track.
Members, Chat, Files, Places & Calendar
Under the map, the group page has five tabs:
Users
Every member with their badges: Group Active, Sharing Location or Not Sharing Location, Needs Help, Inactive, the last ping and speed. View Profile, Remove and Leave Group. Click a role badge to Change Member Role: Member, Moderator or Admin, each with its list of permissions, then Save Role.
Chat
The Group Chat, live: new messages appear within seconds, from the website and from the apps alike.
Shared Files
New Folder and Add File: Upload New File, or Link from GPX Manager to share one of your GPX Files as a shortcut. Edit File sets Allow Download and Allow Add to Collection. Sort by name, newest, who shared it or size.
Shared Locations
Share Location shares one of your Locations with the group. Filter the list by category, vehicle and ground.
Calendar
The group's own Events Calendar. Create Event takes a title, a description, the date and time, and optionally a photo and a link with details. Members mark I'm Going and see Who's Going. Group events also show on your Calendar.
In DMD2
Your groups, their chat, files, places and track are the same in DMD2 and the DMD HUB app: changes on the website reach the apps, and the other way round. Riding with a group — picking your active group, sharing your position, Help Me and joining with a link or code — is in the DMD2 manual's Riding Groups chapter.
