Roadbook

Rally-style roadbook navigation on your head unit — load a PDF, GPX or OpenRally roadbook (or generate one from any route), then follow its tulips turn by turn with distances, headings, waypoint validation and a chrono.

The Roadbook Section

Open Roadbook from Section 1 of the bottom menu. It turns the head unit into a rally-style roadbook reader and navigator: the scrolling strip of tulips (the little rally pictograms) on one side, and a live data column — distances, heading and the next waypoint — alongside. Until you load one it shows “No roadbook loaded — open a PDF or GPX file to begin.”

Roadbooks come in three flavours: a scanned / printed PDF, a GPX-based one, and OpenRally (the open tulip format). DMD Next reads all three.

Opening & Generating a Roadbook

Open a File

Open file imports a roadbook from your device or from DMD HUB. The HUB picker lists your own roadbooks and any Shared With Me — so a roadbook prepared on the web is a tap away on the bike.

Generate One

Generate roadbook builds a tulip roadbook automatically from your active navigation, a loaded route, or a track — a quick way to get roadbook-style guidance for any ride without drawing one by hand.

Reading the Roadbook

As you ride, the roadbook keeps your place. It can auto-follow your trip distance — scrolling to the tulip you're on — or you can scroll it by hand. Move through it by page (a PDF's pages) or by waypoint (WPT 3 / 20).

Distances

Each tulip carries its partial (since the last one) and total distance, so you always know how far to the next instruction.

Heading & CAP

The current heading and the CAP to follow (the compass bearing to the next point), with a live steering cue — L / R and the degrees to turn.

Next Waypoint

The Next WP and an ON COURSE indicator confirm you're tracking the roadbook, with the waypoint direction to steer toward.

Roadbook Buttons (Section 3)

When the Roadbook section is active, Section 3 of the bottom menu carries its own controls (left to right):

Map Split Show the map alongside the roadbook, so you get the tulips and the moving map together.
Roadbook Settings Roadbook-specific options — scroll amount per click and more (see below).
Day / Night Flip the roadbook between light and dark, independently of the app theme.
Quick Menu The global Quick Menu — Profile, Settings, Keep Background and Shutdown.

Notes & Rally Features

Notes Mode

Mark up the roadbook with your own notes — annotate a tulip with a hazard, a fuel reminder or a line to take. Your notes are saved against the roadbook and travel with it.

Waypoint Validation

Waypoints are validated as you reach them — the roadbook marks each Validated or Missed, and tallies penalties for the ones you skip.

Chrono

A built-in stopwatch for timing a stage or section — tap to start / stop, hold to reset.

Speed Zones

Where a roadbook defines a speed zone, DMD Next shows the zone's limit, your current speed and how far until the zone ends.

At the end, a results view sums up your validated and missed waypoints and penalties, and you can Share it.

Settings & the Map

Roadbook Settings

Tune how the roadbook behaves — for example the scroll amount per click (how far each button press or tap advances the strip) — and reach the app-wide Global Settings from here too.

Map Split & Locked Maps

Map Split puts the moving map next to the roadbook. Note that some roadbooks' rules block the map (as required by certain events) — DMD Next honours that and keeps the map hidden for those files.
