Special Vacation Update - Lots of improvements
Submitted by Johny Pear • #339 • 2h ago • updated 2h ago
- Rerouting on long trips - with a destination hundreds of kms away, especially offline or on a slower profile, now the app repairs just the section you've left and splices it into the route you already have, rejoining at a sensible junction instead of forcing you back onto the road you just left. Getting back on course is now ultra fast when it used to be slow.
- Auto Zoom Settings: The Auto Zoom sliders now speak in map scale distances (500 m, 1 km, …)
- Auto Zoom Settings: New "use current" buttons capture the zoom you're looking at right now
- Between your minimum and maximum speeds (defaults now 50–90 km/h) the zoom now glides smoothly instead of stepping, and it waits for your speed to settle before moving, so it stops "breathing" in stop-and-go riding
- Measure distances on a track or route - A new Measure tool in the track/route detail panels and navigation options. Tap one point on the line to read the distance from the start, to the end, and from your position; tap two points to measure the stretch between them. All distances follow the line itself, not the straight line on the screen.
- Active layers at a glance: A new on-map indicator shows which extra layers (weather, satellite, hillshade, …) are currently active, with a tap-to-open panel to review and switch them off. No more "why does the map look like this?" moments.
- Rain radar and other weather overlays now refresh automatically while displayed, instead of showing the frame from when you enabled them.
- Sat View: On high-density displays, satellite view could briefly draw the wrong image in parts of the screen (a checkerboard of misplaced tiles) after panning. Fixed.
- Speed camera markers respect local law - Fixed speed camera markers are now automatically hidden while you're in a country where displaying them is not permitted
- Hillshade and terrain downloads no longer fail silently
- Download online map tiles along a GPX (new) - From a track or route's detail panel you can now download the offline tiles covering a corridor along the line — pick the width, see the size estimate, and take the exact maps your trip needs instead of whole regions
- Queue multiple map downloads - Region downloads now queue: pick several, they download one after another.
- GPX and NAV progress card: Tap the ETA on the progress card to switch between arrival time and time remaining. The choice sticks.
- Many improvements to AUTO POI and cleaner settings. The old "only show POIs close to the track" toggle and its quirks are gone. There is now a single Search Radius (500 m – 10 km, default 500 m) that defines the corridor around your route where POIs are found. POIs beyond the old 500 m mark keep the off-route dot so you can tell a detour at a glance. If nothing is found inside your radius, a new "Extend search if none found" option (on by default, and now covering every category — not just fuel) widens the search in steps up to 100 km so you're never staring at an empty list. Turn it off if you'd rather see nothing than something far away. Selection is also smarter: the app picks the best 10 spread out ahead along your route, instead of letting one town's cluster crowd out everything else.
- Trip Values: Trip meters can now reset themselves: on a schedule (daily, weekly or monthly, at a time you choose) or after inactivity, or both. You can limit resets to the active trip only. Find it under Map Settings → Trips.
- Notifications - A Clear All button in the notifications panel dismisses the listed notifications in one tap
- Roadbook: PDF roadbooks - Fixed remote control not scrolling + roll position no longer snaps back after you page through the roadbook with the remote.
- Location Search: Searching places with accented or special characters (ø, ß, ã, …) now finds them reliably in every map language — several languages previously returned nothing at all for some queries
- Location Search: Results ranking improved: exact brand/name matches now outrank loose ones.
- Location Search: Fixed the on-screen keyboard taking over the whole screen on some devices
- Trip A and Trip B now both increment, but if you want only one to increment you can still use the old method by going to Map Settings > Trip Settings
