Straight Line Navigation - Like used in deserts

Submitted by Johny Pear  •  #2  •  6h ago  •  updated 5h ago
Allow the user to create a navigation where the map only draws straight line between route points. Add the option to create this route from a GPX waypoints list (make sure the waypoints list can be sorted). Maybe we should consider a routing profile called (straight lines) for this use case.

Would this mean we can throw drag lines to a spot on the map with the remote? This is useful not only in the desert. When circumventing blocked areas, I use ad-hoc navigations to guide me away from the blocked area. But then I need to keep in mind where I actually want to go. If I could throw a drag line to the entry point after the blockage I can use the ad hoc navigation to navigate me away from the blockage, but keep the drag line showing the entry point I'm actually aiming for.

support the Web Mercator (EPSG:3857) projection as its standard for map rendering, particularly for vector maps. It provides advanced "projection" tools for route planning, allowing users to create navigation routes based on bearing and distance, rather than just connecting existing map waypoints. (from Locus)

Like the Drag Line idea.
