Zoom and current location changes after after returning from previous zoomed in activity

Describing scenerio
Track recording
I have previous track loaded
I stop to zoom in on an area.
I click the compass button 2x to get to resume- follow-track.
The zoom level changes and my position goes to the bottom of the map.
Is there a setting that allows me to keep the zoom level I am viewing when I activate the compass button for follow track?
