Install the DMD2 app
How to get the DMD2 app installed, difference between Play Store and APK install. The two available types of licensing.

Install DMD2
To install DMD2 you need a device running Android OS, the minimum Android version is 7.1 and the only hardware requirement is that the device has a GPS chip. The device does not need to have Google Play Services and you should make sure it has enough storage space to download the map files that you will need.
There are currently two versions of DMD2, the Play Store version and the APK version. Although very similar there are some basic differences which you can find out about in this page.
Both the Play Store and APK version are free, but there is indeed an addition optional license or subscription for additional online services.
If you have a DMD Navigation device you do not need to worry about how to install the app since DMD2 will be a system app, included with the device, fully unlocked.
Play Store Version
Installing from the Play Store is very easy and managing the optional in-app subscription is a breeze.
Advantages:
In-app optional subscription will work on as many devices as you want (as long as you use the same Google account)
App is updated in the background by the Google Play Store
Disadvantages:
No foreground / background services to increment trip or record GPX when DMD2 is not in view
No access to SD Card
Not compatible with devices that do not have Google Play Services
APK Version
Installing the APK version requires you to sideload the app, in most cases it can retrieve the Play Store subscription and you can also use Thork Racing DMD2 license.
Advantages:
Can be used in devices that do not have Google Play Services
It is not limited by Google Play Policies
You can keep DMD2 running in the background / foreground
You can store maps in the SD Card
Disadvantages:
The Thork Racing license is for/per single device
Installation process can be more complicated for some users
Activating the Non-Play Store License
Non Play Store license (ideal for devices without Play Store) can be purchased in the Thork Racing website. This license is only available for the APK install version of DMD2.
To activate your license just click on “Buy Plugin” button when the dialog shows and insert the license code. To trigger the dialog you can simply access a restricted feature like in the map view tap on the Group Manager (top round icon with 3 dummies).
Make sure you insert the license exactly as it is, it is case-sensitive and you need to include the dashes, make sure no additional space or line break is present in the end.
DMD Edition License
Got a DMD2 Edition License? These are special licenses which have been issued by Thork Racing for non-DMD devices bought with a special DMD Edition license. These license activates the whole app (all plugins), and should be inserted in Global Settings (cog wheel - bottom menu) > Manage Trial or insert DMD2 Edition key (first settings, if it does not show then your device is not eligible).
License Re-Activation or Transfer
To transfer a license between devices or to re-activate it on your device after a factory reset or app reset, you need to first deactivate it in your user account area (in the Thork Racing website) and then you can re-use the code on your new device.
1 - Go to your user account area
2 - Click on License Keys in the left menu
3 - Click on "View" for the license you want to reset
4 - Click "Delete" to reset the activation
After deleting the activation you can use the same license key to activate the device.
